VOCAL INSTRUCTION

At APCA, developing your voice as a finely tuned instrument is very important to us. Our instructors at APCA teach vocal pedagogy -the art and science of voice instruction. Through one on one instruction and a comprehensive curriculum, vocal students are taught to use their voice in a way that will develop and maintain vocal health and to avoid voice disorders related to singing. Our students are also encouraged to develop their natural voice and styles in a myriad of opportunities created for them to showcase and perform.
Our instructors cover a broad range of aspects of singing, ranging from the physiological process of vocal production to the artistic aspects of interpretation of songs from different genres.

Voice students are taught:

  • How human anatomy and physiology relates to the physical process of singing
  • Breathing and air support for singing
  • Posture for singing
  • Phonation
  • Vocal resonation or voice projection
  • Diction, vowels and articulation
  • Vocal registration
  • Other singing elements, such as range extension, tone quality, dynamics and phrasing

All song genres are explored and all ranges of talent are welcomed. APCA welcomes any potential vocal student to visit our vocal department and meet with our instructors before you begin, to thoroughly understand the voice lesson process.
